The Opportunity
Sales Reserves is a high profile area within Finance and with the Commercial organization, and external audit given the considerable amount of judgment involved in the decision-making process and the direct impact on Genentech’s reported net sales.
It’s considered a critical accounting area by external audit and Senior Management.
The annual impact to the Gross to Net is significant (billions) across the company’s commercial product portfolio.
This role provides a unique opportunity within the Revenue Operations and Insights (ROI) Team to partner closely with the Commercial organization to gain a deep understanding of how Genentech’s commercialized products transact within the US healthcare market while providing insightful financial information to key stakeholders across the company.
The Senior Finance Manager is responsible for directly supporting assigned Squad/Squads along with specific assigned reserve accounts.

healthcare system shifts toward value-based care, the organization’s needs have increased for analytics and decision-support in assessing innovative pricing strategies and reserve implications in anticipation of future payment reforms.
The Senior Finance Manager will be accountable for forecasting short and long term for assigned sales reserves.
This requires excellent excel modeling skills, experience working with systems (TM1 and/or SAP Analytics) and ability to work with partners across the business to identify business drivers and trends.
This position is based in our South San Francisco campus and does not have a remote option.

Responsibilities:
Manage assigned sales reserves and associated financial models ensuring that our reserves balances are equal to our post-sale obligations
Help forecast over $2B of total Portfolio reserves in the balance sheet
Manage monthly NOA updates to Basel Finance
Closely Partner with Commercial Finance and the Strategic Analytics & Intelligence Team to acquire latest data and news that could affect our future reserve obligations
Present on reserve related topics to our partners, the Squads, and Ecosystems while understanding all their needs and concerns related to the Gross to Net
Identifies, designs and implements ongoing forecasting methodology and process improvements across the Reserves team (automation & simplification projects).
Lead and/or participate in cross-functional strategy team meetings to assess implications of trends, new contracting, and new regulations so we can adjust reserve rates and forecasts accordingly.
Ensure that we maintain a best-in-class internal control environment that complies with all FGAR and audit requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
7 years of relevant financial/business experience
Bachelor’s degree in business/finance, healthcare management or related disciplines; MBA preferred
Healthcare, Biotech, Managed Care or pharmaceutical experience desired
Proven ability to build strong partnerships within organizations across many levels of management, influence non-direct reports, and work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
Effective communicator who can present complex information at all levels and a variety of audiences while providing the appropriate level of detail
Comfortable and experienced in leveraging technology to streamline and enhance work processes.
AI experience is a plus
Has demonstrated proficiency and level of accuracy required in an audit-sensitive environment
Comfortable delivering the occasional tough message while also challenging business partners as an active economic advisor
Intermediate level experience with SAP and TM1 preferred
Relocation benefits are available for this posting.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $132,400 to $246,000.
Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
