Job Description Position Description: Under direction of the Reentry Division Director, the Reentry Services Coordinator develops, implements, and monitors reentry services contracts with community based providers, ensuring that services are implemented in accordance with evidence based practices and restorative justice principles for the San Francisco Adult Probation Department.
The Reentry Services Coordinator may participate in significant program planning, development, project implementation and evaluation; reviews project plans, programs, conducts program analyses, makes recommendations on operational corrections to comply with contractual requirements; develops methods of evaluating effectiveness of grant funded projects: prepares reports and records and performs related duties as required.
The Reentry Services Coordinator may also conduct regular outreach to communities throughout the year on the intersection of trauma, victimization, and criminal justice involvement, and helps to coordinate multi-jurisdictional strategies that advance progress and solutions for people reentering the community after incarceration or criminal justice involvement.
Additionally, the Reentry Services provides strategic support to ensure efficient administration of the Reentry Council, its three subcommittees, and the CCP.
Distinguishing Features: Positions in this class function at the senior journey level in the Community Development Specialist series.
Employees in this class carry out their assignments with considerable independence and do not receive day to day supervision.
Positions in this class are distinguished from the lower class 9772 Community Development Specialist by their significant coordinating and monitoring responsibility over a variety of grant funded Reentry Services/Programs.
Employees in this class may serve in a lead role for subordinate personnel.

) Makes on-site visits to monitor projects for contract compliance: establishes and coordinates operational methods and procedures: recommends project or program modifications and adjustments to assure contract adherence and responsiveness of programs to community needs: collects and evaluates performance data and prepares written evaluation reports.
Identify strategies that expand and strengthen services for people impacted by the criminal justice system in San Francisco, focusing both on in and out of custody services.
Using the National Institute of Corrections’ Reentry Policy and Practices Assessment and related tools; make recommendations about improving services, policies and therapeutic environment to address the needs of clients, particularly those with trauma histories.
In collaboration with deputy probation officers, enhance probationer accountability and increase successful satisfaction of community service obligations and conditions of probation through implementation of community service internship opportunities and restorative justice programming.
Collaborate with state parole, federal probation, and other local halfway and transitional programs to seed best practices for engaging criminal justice involved people as they reenter the community.
Oversee contracts for programs that provide reentry services, such as transitional housing programs and employment programs.
Develops Statements of Work (SOWs) and comprehensive budgets for various types of Reentry Services/Programs and services funded by the Adult Probation Department.
Provide regular reports to the Reentry Council of San Francisco and its subcommittees and the Community Corrections Partnership and its Executive Committee on various reentry related issues and Reentry Division projects.
Prepare and present reports, and make policy, practice and budget priority recommendations on best and emerging Reentry related policies and practices.
May coordinate the implementation of new collaborations, systems and/or procedures to improve service delivery to diverse populations impacted by the criminal justice system by working with community based providers, deputy probation officers, or reentry division staff.
May represent the Division to the Mayor's Office, Board of Supervisors, Controller's Office, other City officials, outside agencies and the general public.
Perform related duties as assigned, including Division-wide planning, project management, and administrative activities.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of administrative/professional experience working with women/transgender women, and/or in community development, housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, strategic planning, fundraising, or criminal justice; OR Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the following fields: public administration or policy, urban planning, government, social work, education, or criminal justice AND two (2) years of administrative/professional experience working with women/transgender women, and/or in community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, strategic planning, fundraising, or criminal justice; OR Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public policy, planning, social work, public administration, education, criminal justice, or business administration; AND one (1) year of administrative/professional experience working with women/transgender women and/or in community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, strategic planning, fundraising, or criminal justice OR Possession of a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of administrative/professional experience in working with women/transgender women, and/or in community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, education, social work, children/youth work, strategic planning, fundraising, or criminal justice.
SUBSTITUTION: Verifiable administrative/professional experience involving work with women/transgender women, community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, education, social work, children/youth work, or criminal justice may substitute for the educational requirement in Minimum Qualification #1 on a year-for-year basis.
