The Learning & Skill Development (LSD) organization plays a key role in installing a digital culture and mindset across the Commercial and Medical Group (CMG) as well as providing every CMG customer - be it employee, manager, healthcare provider, and patient - with the information and skills that they need next, when they need it, where they need it.
LSD is in the process of transforming CMG into a continuous then contribution learning culture by pioneering advances in skills management, digital learning, experiential learning, and workflow learning.
LSD includes a team of learning business partners who have deep business acumen and are well versed in the trends and data coming from sales, marketing, and medical.
They work in close collaboration with a group of Learning Design Architects who are responsible for perennial focus areas such as medical, therapeutic area certification, leadership development as well as business transformation areas which currently include omnichannel, contracting, digital, and health equity across all CMG business units.
Both teams are supported by a team of instructional designers and multimedia partners who build best-in-class learning products.
LSD scales these learning products through facilitators who upskill business experts and leaders in executive presence, learning technologists who use cutting edge applications and systems to embed learning as close to the work as possible, and an analytics function that maps CMG's skill domains and employee skill gain to business impact metrics.
Role Overview The Learning Business Partner (LBP) is responsible for delivering an unparalleled learning experience to employees within their respective customer audience.
The role will report to the Business Partner Lead for CMG LSD.
This key leadership role will serve as a trusted business partner to CMG leaders and stakeholders, and then work with LSD peers to design, develop, and deliver scalable learning products that develop skills that employees need next.
Key Responsibilities: Act as the primary LSD lead for the business including squads, field role based orchestration (RBO).
Partner with Customer Engagement, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Squad senior leaders to promote learning products, strategy, and ensure alignment Partner with Learning Design Architects (LDA) to design and own journey maps that identify all skill needs and learning injection points for each key job role within the respective customer base Proactively develop and skill forecasts based on 12-15 months business plans for each key job role within the respective customer base.
Partner with Learning Technologies team to load forecast into Learning Experience Platform (LXP) and Development 1:1 tool to cascade down to managers For relevant launches or learning programs, partner with the LSD TCM lead and business Communications/Operations teams to develop Transition Change Mgmt (TCM) plans that sequence communications, marketing, and training in a coordinated fashion that optimizes employee experience Execute, regularly monitor progress, and adjust the transition change mgmt plan where needed to install individual behavior and the target organizational change Partner with business leaders to execute marketing components of the TCM plan, ensure that employees are continuously reminded on the “why” Partner with business Communications/Operations teams to deliver messaging based on the TCM plan, ensure that employees know “what” changes are coming, “who” is impacted and “when” Ensure that learning solutions curated or developed deliver “what” employees need to know “when” and “where” they need it, as close to the work as possible Ensure training is compliant with legal, compliance, and regulatory Consult with LDA and instructional designers (ID) as they design and develop learning products commissioned by skill forecasts or business launches.
Recruit subject matter experts (SME) from the business where needed to support instructional design teams.
Recruit SMEs, business leaders, and T&D facilitators as needed to scale delivery of learning products to the respective customer base Lead, act and live our Operating Principles in all aspects of work Comply with all laws, regulations, policies and procedures that govern the conduct of Genentech activities Continuously collect and synthesize business plans, strategy, and data to identify skills that employees need today and predict what the business needs next Partner with the LSD Analytics team to frequently refresh key learning operating metrics, share with key business stakeholders through standard monthly or quarterly business reviews (MBR, QBR).
Collect feedback from customers and provide back to Learning Products, Learning Technology, or Skills & Analytics teams as relevant to inform future learning products, technology needs, skill forecasts or domains, or business specific learning strategy Partner with LSD Analytics to measure the collective impact of skill development against key business outcomes and metrics Develop a business unit specific learning strategy that solves for current and future business needs rather than customer wants, leveraging the umbrella LSD learning transformation where relevant Partner with GBO colleagues (XO, SAI, D&I & ASPS) to optimize learning initiatives and coordinate efforts across teams Qualifications/Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of digital marketing experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries Proven ability to diagnose issues/needs and develop appropriate strategies and actions to address the needs Strong presentation, interpersonal communication, written communication, and facilitation skills to be used with senior-level leadership and functional leadership teams, town halls, external events, and director-level meetings Program and project management skills to lead and/or manage work across team/community, across the enterprise, or with key business stakeholders internally and externally Demonstrated teamwork skills and a collaborative approach to work with colleagues interdependently to develop results for the business Proven ability to coach and provide feedback to leaders and key stakeholders to ensure ideas to move to execution An excellent command of learning concepts and instructional design and delivery The ability to research, identify and implement best practices of learning design and delivery Strong negotiation and influencing skills; proven ability to influence without direct authority This position is based in South San Francisco and relocation benefits are not available Our Operating Principles Put Patients First: I always act as if patients I know are in the room and do what's best for them.

Think long term: I choose actions today that benefit future generations The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $176,500 - $327,700.
Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
