*Senior Geotechnical Engineer* *Company*: Consulting Firm seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer for their Northern California offices in the Bay Area and Sacramento.
The ideal candidate holds a California GE Registration, a Bachelor’s/ Master's or PhD in civil/geotechnical engineering, a history of increasing responsibility, and at least six years of experience.
This role is pivotal in growing our geotechnical engineering practice in Northern California.
*Job Title*: Senior Geotechnical Engineer *Location*: San Francisco Bay Area, CA *Job Type*: Full-time *Description*: We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer with a proven track record of increasing levels of responsibility and a minimum of six years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing, managing, and directing geotechnical engineering evaluations for projects of varying complexity.
You will provide senior review and oversight of geotechnical engineering practices within the company and contribute to the technical development of our engineering staff.
Additionally, you will be involved in business development activities, including attending short-list interviews as a geotechnical expert and assisting in the preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications.
*Responsibilities*: * Oversee, manage, and direct geotechnical engineering evaluations for projects with varying levels of complexity.
* Provide senior review and oversight of geotechnical engineering practices.
* Prepare subsurface investigation proposals and assist in the marketing and acquisition of subsurface investigations.
* Assist in the technical development of engineering staff.
* Assist marketing in business development activities, including attending short-list interviews, reviewing and evaluating RFPs/RFQs, and helping to develop proposals and statements of qualifications.
*Required Competencies*: * Command of both design- and construction-related aspects of geotechnical engineering.
* Experience in shallow and deep foundation design, Caltrans design of bridge foundations, retaining walls, MSE walls, and pavements.
* Experience with design of mat-type foundations and development of mat foundation design parameters.
* Proficiency in using Settle3D, Slide, AllPile, L-Pile, Shaft, CLiq, and LiquefyPro.
* Experience with field infiltration testing (borehole method, double-ring infiltrometer) and development of design infiltration rates.
* Exemplary technical writing skills.
* Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate clearly with co-workers, clients, and potential clients.
* Ability to maintain company-established chargeability goals.
* Ability to work closely with the marketing group to help acquire geotechnical investigation projects.
* Bachelor’s/Master's degree in civil/geotechnical engineering.
* A minimum of 6 years of civil/geotechnical engineering experience.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Exhibits an advanced ability to analyze problems and develop alternative strategies to solve them.
