The Wine Educator will support Rombauer Vineyards ensuring a dedication to the highest quality of customer satisfaction delivered with a sense of graciousness, pride, fun, and company spirit.
Promotes the sale of wine and non-wine products sold in the Tasting Room.
Greets all visitors and pours wines for tasting.
Describes wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, and provides general tourist information.
Dedicated to ensuring a wonderful wine tasting experience, including the handling of disgruntled customers.
Handles routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash register and accounting of daily sales and bank deposits.
May assist with hospitality special events as needed.
Under general supervision, works as part of a team to support visitor center operations in a manner that achieves the established financial goals, ensures a rich consumer experience, builds consumer loyalty and reflects the brand essence.
Principal functions include cash register operations, product knowledge/education, product presentations.

What You Will Do: Perform Tasting and Tours (85%) Perform Wine Educator tastings and tours Prepares the tasting room for daily opening and closing.
Describes wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history; answers visitor’s questions about wines.
Conduct an entertaining and informative wine tasting for all guests using educational tools, storytelling and accurate facts.
Handles routine purchasing transactions (includes operating cash register and accounting of daily sales).
Assists and supports hospitality special events.
Participates in maintaining inventory and assists with counts, and audits.
Understands and effectively communicates the Brand message.
Processes orders and wine shipping orders in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Accurate entry of wine club signups while following confidentiality procedures.
Proficient use of point of sale system (Commerce 7) and reservation system (Tock).
Conduct experiences at a high level both indoors, outdoors, in varying elements and throughout the day.
Support Back of House Operations (10%) Maintains orderly warehouse space including breakroom.
Keeps wine and merchandise stocked in tasting room.
Creates wine and merchandise displays in the tasting room.
Accurately samples out wine for pours, donations, and breakage.
Restocks supplies where needed in the tasting room, bathrooms, warehouse and breakroom.
Patio Space - Ensures patio and parking lot are free of all trash.
Blow off patio and wash as needed.
Wash cushions and umbrellas as instructed by manager.
Clean metal and wooden tables with appropriate cleaning supplies.
Assist in displays including flowers, and seasonal displays.
Other (5%) Maintain cleanliness of all tasting room spaces: indoors, outside, breakrooms, bathrooms and back of house.

Required to lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
Knowledge of basic computer operation.
Required to engage in frequent walking and standing.
Required to multi-task with focus on detail and switch gears quickly.
Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
Experienced in conflict resolution.
Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation.

What Will Set You Apart: Bachelor’s Degree plus 1 year of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, direct to consumer marketing, or wine education experience; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 5 years of tasting room, customer service, retail sales or hospitality.
Knowledge of wine and wine production.
Knowledge of federal and state legal compliance related to tasting room operations.
