BASIC PURPOSE
Cultivates, solicits, and closes major gifts ($50,000+) in support of The Salvation Army’s Campaign for Alameda to expand our umbrella of social services including transitional housing, workforce development, youth development, food assistance, and homeless outreach.
The successful candidate will help manage high-level donors and prospects, collaborating with a Planned Gifts team, and Divisional Development staff to execute comprehensive gift proposals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FUNDRAISING
Cultivate, solicit, and steward an existing portfolio of 125-150 prospects and current donors with the ability to make campaign gifts between $50,000 and $2.
5 million.
Augment an existing campaign prospect pipeline which will include individual donors (85%), corporations (10%), and foundations (5%).
Ability to secure 120 face-to-face visits and minimum of $1.
5 million annually in direct support.
Knowledge of moves management, endowment fundraising and philanthropic reporting.
Ability to organize and prioritize a solicitation schedule that maintains the momentum of a capital campaign and adheres to campaign timelines and benchmarks.
Experience with all mechanisms of charitable giving including planned giving and gifts-in-kind.
Coordinate the overall campaign effort through the regular reporting of progress, the integration of board members for better identification and solicitation, and the engagement of local officer/leaders.
Ability to work successfully within The Salvation Army’s fundraising practices as defined by the Division and Territory to ensure a continuity of support while maintaining and improving existing donor relationships.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge NXT or other CRM.
Other duties assigned as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree (B.
A.
) from a four-year college or university.
At least 5 years of field experience in major gifts fundraising, ideally in institutions of higher education or social service delivery.
Demonstrated ability to solicit and secure five and six figure gifts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with diverse communities including board members, community members, and others.
High energy, strong sense of initiative, creative problem solving and flexibility.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be goal-oriented, self-motivated and able to multi-task.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Office 365 (Word, Excel, Publisher) is necessary.
Valid CA driver’s license.
