JOB SUMMARY
The Grant Writer will report to the Executive Director of the Mills Institute and fulfill a critical role in identifying, conceptualizing, writing, and coordinating funding opportunities to advance the Mills Institute’s mission and support Institute-related activities, initiatives, and projects.
The incumbent will also assist in the development of other communication materials as well as grant progress reports.
Funding will be targeted to community, government, corporate, and foundation grant opportunities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of grants, calendars, proposals, and reporting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent research skills and proofreading abilities.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Skilled in developing and using databases to collect and aggregate information on funding.
Good organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
Articulate, thoughtful, and strategic; highly organized and deadline driven.
Ability to manage multiple projects, often under deadline pressures, and with keen attention to detail.
Demonstrate deep empathy, curiosity, and character and possess a record of working directly with communities that have been historically underrepresented and marginalized.
Knowledge and skills required for this position are normally obtained through attaining BA degree in a related field (or an equivalent) and at least three to five years of relevant experience with community and collaborative grants with city and/or state organizations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
1 Research and identify funding opportunities/sources, including funded partnerships within the Northeastern global network, that will advance the Institute’s mission and support projects that create research opportunities for faculty, student/community learning opportunities, and partnerships with communities to further community goals.
2 Develop, edit, and submit funding opportunity proposals, materials, budgets, and progress reports that describe activities, initiatives, and projects, their potential impacts, and how they align with objectives, and submit proposals and applications through various funding portals.
3 Develop a yearly calendar of applications for proposals and track the implementation of grants and assist in preparing interim and end-of-project reports required pursuant to any awards.
4 Assist in other activities and programming, preparing for meetings with potential funders and elected officials, and drafting end-of-year reports.
The expected hiring range $95,130 to $121,295 based on the position's scope and responsibilities.
