Role Overview
The Sr Manager, Backroads.
com reports to the Vice President, Marketing and is responsible for Backroads guest-facing digital experience (web & mobile) as measured by visitor engagement, content accuracy, conversion and error-free site performance.
This role leads a team of three to support Go Lives (trip launches), content publishing, UAT and deployment of new web features, and the successful integration and usage of third-party tools for analytics, site search, reviews and user-generated content (and others as may be added).
The Sr Manager proactively collaborates with performance marketing, content and CRM to optimize user journeys, and with the Website Product Manager to recommend, scope and support new feature development.
The ideal candidate will be well versed in analyzing and implementing improvements on current go-to-market strategies and processes.
Major Duties & Responsibilities Act as a leader within Backroads, owning all aspects of Backroads.
com and championing improvements across the digital experience to increase engagement and guest experience Lead and manage the web team to improve processes, decrease time to market, increase accuracy and ensure effective resource allocation Proactively identify and remedy web issues and UX improvements With the Product Manager and VP Marketing, develop and implement a prioritized roadmap that is informed by input from internal business partners and external sources, is feasible, and can be measured Monitor, analyze and report on web KPIs with the goal of continuous improvement Act as the primary business lead for the development, production and testing of digital customer-facing products, championing the needs of guests, business teams and stakeholders throughout the development process Own the Marketing Request Service Desk (Jira) to ensure timely review, response and completion of all tasks and projects Clearly communicate web production deliverables, timelines and resource needs to the Product and Development teams Be an evangelist for the website experience by sharing your vision across the business and leading through influence Skills and Experience 7 - 10 years’ experience managing a website team, ideally in a content-rich environment that leverages commerce technologies across desktop, mobile and in-product.
Technical understanding of digital/e-commerce best practices, internet technologies and web services Experience managing a complex, dynamic, multi-faceted website across multiple stakeholders Business acumen to communicate and gain consensus on product/platform features and tools that enrich the guest experience Strong knowledge of productivity and project methodologies and applications/tools Knowledge of user experience trends and digital consumer behaviors Expertise in making informed, data-driven decisions using web analytical skills and offline data Expertise in using web analytics, A/B testing, site personalization and user journeys to identify improvement opportunities Ability to manage complex builds through thoughtful prioritization and disciplines that drive towards delivery Track record of project execution; completing and shipping excellent products on time and on budget Strong empathy and understanding of the guest, solving their problems, adding value, reducing friction and streamlining experiences Collaborative, creative team player with ambition to do quality impactful work Strong communication skills Technical experience with ecommerce and CMS platforms, Drupal experience preferred Knowledge of digital marketing channels Excellent attention to detail Experience thriving in a fast-paced, fast-growing start-up–like environment About Backroads: At Backroads we’re passionate about connecting our guests with so many of the most beautiful places in the world.

Salary Ranges: $95,000.
00 - $170,000.
00 Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'.
We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year.
This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters.
Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.
