Departmental Overview The College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) is a dynamic, innovative new college at UC Berkeley that represents a once-in-a-generation transformation.

The Senior Development Associate, Individual Giving of the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) will be an integral member of the CDSS development team, providing wide-ranging administrative support of fundraising endeavors and programs and working closely with the Assistant Dean of Development & External Relations and Executive Director of Individual Giving for CDSS, and all CDSS leaders and staff supporting development and external relations endeavors.
The Senior Development Associate, Individual Giving will support and execute a variety of fundraising activities and projects, spanning areas of donor relations, prospect development, events, communications, and more, by directly partnering with CDSS development staff and other CDSS leaders/staff and UDAR partners.
The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively with a broad range of campus staff and faculty.
The Senior Development Associate, Individual Giving will also effectively prioritize among competing demands in support of college-wide priorities.

Manage logistics and coordination of travel for the Executive Director and fundraising team's non-local donor/prospect visits, developing travel itinerary as needed.
Participate in gift conversations with donors at leadership giving level.
Responsible for helping to build a CDSS leadership giving portfolio with 25 to 45 potential donors rated $100K+ and qualified to potentially make $25K+ gifts in support of CDSS priorities.
Grow to actively interact and engage with donors with the goal of securing leadership gifts, totaling $100K+ per year.
25% Fundraising & Special Project Support Assist in developing written materials such as agendas, briefings, background information, stewardship materials, proposals, and tailored correspondence for donors and prospects.
Analyze and synthesize knowledge on donors and CDSS priorities/initiatives to assist in preparing event briefings or meeting briefings for the Dean and other campus leadership.
As a key member of the CDSS development team, assist in the preparation of various internal team meetings with collaborators across campus (within CDSS and other units/colleges, including UDAR) in support of the Assistant Dean.
Participate in short and long range fundraising plans, coordination, and tracking for the team.
Strategic communications / advancement support highlighting CDSS priorities: Materials may include white papers, briefings, budgets, slide deck presentations, proposals, stewardship and correspondence on behalf of CDSS and UC Berkeley leaders as well as other campus leaders for solicitations in the six- and seven-figure range.
20% Event Planning & Support Assist in the organizing and implementation of special events involving donors, alumni, and volunteer leaders, such as advisory board meetings, cultivation and donor stewardship events.
Play a central role in supporting complex major events managed by College.
15% Administrative Support and Partnership Provide administrative support to the Assistant Dean and Executive Director, including scheduling and managing calendaring of various key meetings.
In consultation with the Assistant Dean and Executive Director as well as the Senior Assistant Dean, manage office wide projects and keep initiatives on track.
Process reimbursements for expenses incurred related to CDSS fundraising activities, and assist with the development budget review process as needed.
10% Research, Data Analysis & Reporting Conduct research on alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations to help identify prospects.
Track and record contacts with key prospects, monitor proposal activity and prospect solicitation strategies, and update biographical and other prospect information in CADS.
Ensure that recorded donor data and gift designations are accurate, current, and complete.
Coordinate research and/or reporting on donor data or giving history upon inquiry.
