Departmental Overview University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) helps build Berkeley's excellence through communications, public outreach, and fundraising, all to raise public awareness about Berkeley and increase private philanthropy.
UDAR provides overall direction for the campus's philanthropic advancement strategies and strengthens campus unit development in partnership with campus fundraisers.
It handles a range of central activities and services encompassing prospect development, communications, donor stewardship, gift management, database management, and more.
Within UDAR, the Constituent Programs (CP) group works at the intersection of operational excellence, advancement strategy, and One Berkeley collaboration.
Led by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Constituent Programs, CP works with development leadership in schools, colleges, and auxiliary partners across campus on strategy setting; building philanthropic culture and community;optimizing organizational performance; and reaching philanthropic goals.
The Constituent Programs Group comprises three teams: Campaign Planning, Communications & Outreach, and Prospect Development.
Position Overview The Development Assistant, Constituent Programs (CP) provides wide-ranging fundraising program support to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) - Constituent Programs.
The incumbent supports fundraising projects spanning the areas of Campaign Planning, Communications and Outreach, and Prospect Development.
As an integral member of the CP team, the Development Assistant manages and executes a variety of philanthropic projects and fundraising support tasks directly partnering with campus fundraisers and Advancement units.
This work requires active, thorough listening, rapid acquisition of knowledge about Berkeley's fundraising programs and philanthropic priorities, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize among competing demands in support of the campus fundraising effort.
Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: January 24, 2024 Responsibilities Initiates and oversees communications and engagements related to structural donor programs and strategies as designated by the AVC CP, involving campus fundraising departments, partners and senior leaders in 26+ units as well as alumni and students.
Acts as strategic partner in directing donor involvement in line with campus priorities.
Develops complex, frontline correspondence on behalf of the AVC, CP regarding campus-wide fundraising program planning.
Organizes fundraising planning meetings led by AVC/CP, including but not limited to meetings with prospects, donors, faculty, fundraising administrators such as chief development officers and key unit fundraisers.
Manages fundraising team or individual fundraiser donor visits, including but not limited to the adherence to Berkeley travel policies for fundraisers who have interacted directly with donors during the donor relations and gift solicitation process.
Oversees and manages fundraising gift acknowledgment for Division of the College of Letters & Science, which has a direct reporting line into the AVC, Constituent Programs for L&S advancement and fundraising efforts.
Implements other fundraising/stewardship programming as needed, including analysis and production of stewardship reports for the Division of Undergraduate Studies.
Creates online and in-person donor engagement events to support the College of Letters & Science.
Assists in preparing for and managing special fundraising projects, including working collaboratively coordinating special fundraising events, campus donor visits, and high-level fundraising meetings).
Develops and maintains fundraising tracking and workflow for UDAR's Constituent Programs team, which works with over 26 campus units on Berkeley's campus-wide fundraising effort.
Perform donor inquiry functions using the CADS database (campus donor database), providing information on fundraising program trends and analysis of data.
Provides analytics of donor data from CADS and create query sentences for extracting donor data from system or calculating fundraising totals.
Present donor data or fundraising information and analytics in a number of end-user applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) at key constituent meetings involving campus fundraising programs.
Acquire and analyze donor visit information and data to enter into CADS as contact reports, utilizing information from fundraising briefings, donor correspondence, and e-mails with campus fundraisers.
Ensures key donor biographical information in CADS is current and accurate to inform fundraisings via comprehensive donor analytics and reporting.
Create and produce custom CADS donor invitation lists for special fundraising events.
Works with other development assistants within UDAR and campus wide to share fundraising program information and best practices.
May train new fundraising associates on fundraising programs and support procedures regarding Berkeley's campus-wide Advancement work.
