*About The Position* Pachamama Alliance is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operations Officer (COO) to lead the team driving operational, strategic, and programmatic initiatives.
As a key member of the executive team, the COO will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the organization and enhancing Pachamama Alliance’s efficiency and impact in the world.
The COO is responsible for providing strategic leadership and planning as well as effective management of organizational operations.
This executive will oversee human resources, financial and legal functions, technology and infrastructure, marketing, fundraising, and the development of strategic initiatives and programs.
*About Pachamama Alliance* Pachamama Alliance is an established San Francisco-based non-profit organization with a mission to empower Indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest to preserve their lands and culture and, using insights gained from that work, to educate and inspire individuals everywhere to bring forth an environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling, socially just human presence on the planet.
For over 25 years, Pachamama Alliance has successfully raised awareness and built a global community.
Upon that foundation, we have created this role to support us in fortifying our organization to meet the needs of this critical moment in human history.
This role will be key in providing leadership and vision to Pachamama Alliance, now and well into the future.
*Required Experience & Skills* * 10+ years of non-profit leadership/management experience * 5+ years managing multiple teams and people * Broad and deep project management experience * Experience in managing marketing, fundraising and program development * Strong executive organization and communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills * Generalist level financial, budgeting, marketing, and HR * Familiarity with the current technology and digital tools that can support the organization's operations, communication, and program delivery.
* Bias towards efficient/low cost practices and programs * Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills.
*Qualities* *Strategic Leadership and Organizational Development* The COO must have a proven track record of formulating and executing strategic plans and operational frameworks across domains of an organization.
The COO will work closely with the executive team to ensure alignment with the organization’s vision and goals: * Advanced strategic thinking and organizational planning abilities.
* Experience in leading diverse teams and scaling organizational operations.
* Skills in process optimization and administrative leadership across various departments.
* Expertise in growing and scaling programmatic, marketing and fundraising systems.
* Proficient in data-driven decision-making and utilizing analytics for operational improvements.
*Organizational Culture and Change Management* The COO should be adept at guiding change management processes and fostering a culture that aligns with the organization's core values and mission: * Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a focus on creating a positive and productive work environment.
* Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, including working with the Board and external partners.
* Proactive in working with fundraising and development teams to support financial objectives.
*Personal Alignment with Organizational Values* The COO should resonate with the transformational ethos of Pachamama Alliance, understanding its influence on the organization’s approach and activities: * A personal practice of mindfulness or spirituality that aligns with the organization’s mission.

*Key Responsibilities* * Work with the Executive Committee (President, Vice-President, and Co-Founders) to develop and coordinate the execution of operational plans to achieve Pachamama Alliance short and long-term goals around fundraising, alliance building, marketing/brand development and programs reach and impact.
* Create and maintain an organizational strategy, structure and resourcing plan that effectively executes the operational plans across domains of the organization operations, admin, HR, tech, communications & marketing development, finance, tax, legal and support for programs.
* Specifically, this role will develop the strategy, allocate resources, and make managerial tradeoff decisions for: • Human Resources activity such as hiring, compensation, benefits administration, regulatory oversight and legal compliance • Technology performance and maintenance • Finance/Tax/Legal compliance & effectiveness • Marketing efforts tied to fundraising, strategic initiatives and programs * Coordinate key program development, fundraising and strategy planning in conjunction with the Executive Committee, and make recommendations on business decisions * Partner with the Managing Director New Dream Initiative Lead to coordinate operating strategies, talent, resourcing and platforms that support the evolving strategy of the New Dream Initiative * Establish and monitor performance-reporting for talent, vendors, programs and initiatives * Ensure that all activities comply with organizational requirements for quality management, legal stipulations, and general duty of care * Ensure health, wellness, and commitment of all staff * Facilitate resolution of specific working issues between departments and team members and disciplinary actions * Liaise with Board of Directors as necessary; prepare financials and operational updates Board meetings * Manage relationships with office building co-tenants *Compensation and Benefits* This position is full-time and located in the Presidio neighborhood of San Francisco.
Salary range is $115,000 – $125,000 depending on experience plus generous vacation (accrues 20 days annually in addition to holidays, starting the first year) and health and dental benefits.
Employees receive a complimentary pass to the PresidiGo Shuttle that has stops at the SF Transit Terminal, Embarcadero, and others in route to the Presidio.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $115,000.
