Job Description Under supervision of the Probation Services Director, the Community Programs Relations Specialist assists in researching, establishing contracts with, monitoring, and evaluating Community Programs for the Juvenile Probation Department by maintaining close contact with personnel of community-based agencies and projects, analyzing data and preparing recommendations; and performing other duties as required.
Essential Duties of the Community Programs Relations Specialist include but are not limited by the following: 1.
Develop and maintain relationships with community-based programs that support justice involved youth.
2.
Source community-based programs to meet the needs of justice-involved youth.
3.
Liase with community partners in implementation of services; attends project-related community and other meetings 4.
Conduct orientations that inform various groups, organizations and individuals on probation and support services.
Surveys and analyze results of orientation satisfaction surveys to improve orientation responsiveness to community needs.
5.
Review and analyze monthly reports submitted by various community groups, organizations and agencies to ensure contract compliance; visit sites to assess effectiveness of individual projects: write and submit monthly performance monitoring reports.
6.
Manage the Juvenile Advisory Council, comprised of former justice-involved youth who would like to make a difference in the community.
Qualifications 1.
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of administrative/professional experience in community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, criminal justice or elections related work; OR 2.
Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the following fields: public or business administration, urban planning, government, social work, education, finance or criminal justice AND one (1) year of administrative/professional experience in community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, criminal justice or elections related work; OR 3.
Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public policy, planning, social work, public administration, finance, education, criminal justice, or business administration; OR 4.
Possession of a Ph.
D.
or Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college or university.
SUBSTITUTION: Verifiable administrative/professional experience involving community development, housing and/or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children/youth work, criminal justice and/or elections related work may substitute for the educational requirement in Minimum Qualification #1 on a year-for-year basis.
Desirable Qualifications: In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated a successful track record of having the following knowledge and abilities.
