ABOUT THE POSITION The Department of Public Works has a unique internship opportunity for an enthusiastic individual interested in learning more about the ins and outs of the County’s Real Estate Division and the projects the division supports.
This paid internship will begin in June 2024 and can extend up to 6-months (through December).
20-30 hours a week are available within normal business hours on a flexible in-office schedule.
The Real Estate office is located at 1600 Los Gamos Dr, San Rafael.
Offsite, remote work will not be accommodated.
The work of this division involves a wide range of real estate functions to support projects requiring real estate including research, negotiations, document preparation, correspondence, document submittal to the Board of Supervisors, and escrow coordination for property acquisitions.
In this internship, the successful candidate will learn about the process of real estate research, acquisitions, and management of real estate for the County.
They will also provide customer service through interactions with County residents and other County Departments.
Examples of Duties: o Perform property research and investigations, o Inspect County owned property in the field, o Maintain and update Real Estate Division database, files, and records, o Attend meetings with senior staff and other County staff.
ABOUT YOU Our ideal candidate is enrolled in or is a recent graduate (within one year) in a business administration program or related field and be at least a junior level college student.
Our ideal candidate is willing to learn, has a positive attitude, and is a team player.
They have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and can communicate and interact with peers, consulting professionals, and members of the public.
They are comfortable with technology and have familiarity with Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
They possess a Class C Driver’s License and are comfortable driving a County vehicle around the County as part of their duties.
The Minimum Qualifications for this position are one of the following: Enrolled in OR within one year of having graduated from an undergraduate level program, academic or vocational curriculum at a college or university Enrolled in OR within one year of having graduated from a graduate level program at a college or university A participant in a supervised program to meet licensure requirements of the State of California ABOUT THE PROCESS All applicants will receive email notifications regarding their status in the recruitment process.

Testing and Eligible List: Depending on the number of qualified applications received, the examination may consist of a highly qualified review, application screening, online assessment, written examination, oral examination, performance examination, or any combination to determine which candidates' names will be placed on the eligible list.
The first 20 applicants who meet the County of Marin’s minimum qualifications will be moved forward to the next step in the evaluation process.
1st round interviews via SparkHire will begin on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and any future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur while the list remains active.
Disaster Service Workers: All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109).
Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect.
Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
