Hey everyone,
I'm an SFCM grad where I studied with Sergio Assad and Lawrence Ferrara.
I also have studied with Tilman Hoppstock, Grisha Goryachev, and Marc Teicholz.
I'm currently accepting students for my (mostly) online guitar teaching studio! My method of teaching is unique in that it focuses on a Somatic practice called Body Mapping, the understanding of your body's structure, function, and size and how to best approach the guitar.
Musicians move for a living, so training on a somatic foundation is essential for both beginners and expert players.
If you've ever struggled to play a barre chord, sustain fast passages, or find yourself needing to shake off your hand due to fatigue, this is highly likely to be a product of overuse that of course leads to tension.
Through the study of anatomy and a process called "re-mapping" we can get to the root of every single little tension filled area of your playing and learn how to start taking steps to move beyond them.
While my background is mostly classical guitar, I've played electric and have taught electric throughout most of my life, so all styles welcome.
I'm currently studying to be only the 2nd Licensed Body Mapping Educator in the country and it's my goal to help guitarists play without limitation and avoid injury.
Lessons are either online or at my home studio in the Bayview district.
