No degree req. Lab Tech: Computers+Hand Tools, $20 (berkeley)

Note: For this position, we are looking for someone crafty! We have a growing department that involves managing some small equipment.
Our new Technician will be spending half of their day with that.
Almost any experience working with your hands will do.
We will train from there, and you can learn a lot about basic mechanics.
We are looking for a full-time technician to work in our Berkeley Environmental lab service center.
Clients drop off soil and water samples, we prepare and ship them overnight to the main lab for analysis.

Our new technician will gain useful experience such as: -Learning about the environmental lab business, a secure and growing sector -General lab appropriate procedures -Learning about various environmental tests, why and how they are done -Experience using a lab inventory management system -Maintenance and use of specialized field sampling equipment -Interdepartmental communication and office procedures Primary Responsibilities: -Receives environmental samples into the laboratory -Label and process the samples -Sample information entry into the laboratory system -Sample management and preparation -Assembling container orders -Maintaining and managing equipment -Driving for deliveries Qualifications: -Basic tool usage such as wrenches and screwdrivers -Ability to lift 50lbs to waist height repeatedly -Valid state issued driver's license to drive company vehicles -Background screening and drug test required -Proficient basic computer use (email, spreadsheet) -Able to communicate effectively verbal and written -Able to occasionally work outside, when needed Hours: 10:00am-6:30pm, Mon-Fri.
Compensation: $20/hr plus overtime and benefits, depending on experience.
