Would you like to help California combat global warming and help improve the states aging infrastructure? Do you have a strong interest in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and/or energy planning issues? If so, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Branch in the Energy Division is looking for you! Significant new investments are required in order to support the State’s transition to a low-carbon energy infrastructure.
To realize these goals, new transmission lines have been planned and are being built throughout the State to integrate renewable energy.
At the same time, significant investments to improve distribution level infrastructure are required to improve the safety, delivery and reliability of electricity and gas.
Under the general direction of the Branch / Program Manager, the Program and Project Supervisor (PPS) is responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating the activities of the CEQA & Energy Permitting Section (Section).
The incumbent directly supervises the work of Section staff, coordinates the Section’s work with other Energy Division (Division) sections and other Commission divisions, as necessary, and actively participates as a member of Division’s management team.
The incumbent may also receive assignments and direction from the Division Deputy Director and the Division Director.
The incumbent will consider diversity, equity, and inclusion in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and internal processes.
The CEQA & Energy Permitting Section plays an important role in permitting transmission and substation facilities throughout the State and is responsible for the development of environmental documents in accordance with CEQA and overseeing projects in construction.
Although this position primarily supports energy infrastructure, the CEQA & Energy Permitting Section provides permitting services to the whole California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and supports telecommunication and rail projects as well.
This provides staff the opportunity to diversify their professional portfolios by having a verity of projects and permitting challenges.
