MOVEMENT FOR BLACK LIVES: The Movement for Black Lives (M4BL) is an ecosystem of organizations and individuals creating a shared vision and strategy to win rights, control and resources for Black people.
Building on the legacy and strategies of past movements, the Movement for Black Lives has created a broad political home for Black organizers, activists, and their organizations.

org/ TECHNOLOGY TEAM: M4BL is currently building out its Technology team, whose mission is to harness and optimize technology in a way that robustly supports M4BL’s core initiatives, including the Vision4BlackLives and Project 2024: Black Power Rising.
This team is dedicated to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, ensuring that every technological solution is tailored with compassionate support and adaptability.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Web Manager at M4BL is responsible for leading web development initiatives.
This role is crucial in enhancing our digital presence, supporting the Vision4BlackLives and Project 2024 initiatives, and ensuring our web platforms effectively engage our community.
The Web Developer will be skilled in responding to rapid response scenarios, collaborating with communications and digital teams, and working cross-functionally to maintain a cohesive theme across all web properties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and Manage M4BL’s Websites: Oversee the creation and maintenance of websites, ensuring they are aligned with our mission and facilitate user engagement.
Implement SEO best practices to enhance website visibility and user experience.
Respond to Web Development Needs Efficiently: Act swiftly in urgent web development scenarios, supporting organizational initiatives with agility and proficiency.
Collaborative Website Theming: Work in tandem with communications and digital teams to establish and maintain a cohesive theme across all web platforms, incorporating SEO strategies to optimize content and layout for search engines.
Cross-Functional Integration: Collaborate with various teams to seamlessly integrate web solutions, ensuring a unified digital presence.
Contribute to App Development: Participate in app development projects, applying data-driven insights and strategies to enhance digital outreach and user engagement.
SEO Analysis and Reporting: Regularly analyze website performance using SEO tools, providing actionable insights and reports to guide ongoing content and design optimizations.
Content Strategy Collaboration: Join forces with content creators to devise and implement an SEO-friendly content strategy, contributing to overall web development and engagement goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5-10 years of experience in web development, with strong expertise in WordPress, including themes and plugins.
Strong personal alignment with M4BL’s Ideological pillars: Anti-capitalism Black Queer Feminism Abolition Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Pantheon, and MySQL.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
Skills in app development, with a keen understanding of user experience and functionality.
Proven experience with SEO tools and strategies, with a track record of improving website visibility and user engagement.
Strong analytical skills to interpret SEO data and make informed decisions for website optimizations.
Capacity for agile and responsive web development to meet rapid response needs.
