The Phillips lab at the University of California, San Francisco is looking for a talented postdoctoral researcher interested in developing and implementing high-throughput techniques to study viral protein and antibody evolution.
Established in September 2022, there are many exciting, early-stage projects available to incoming Postdoctoral Associates.
These projects are designed to open several new avenues of study, enabling Postdocs to design their own projects, and for Postdocs considering academic positions, to support the transition to launching their independent research program.
As detailed on our lab website, some research areas that are we especially excited about are: Development of high-throughput methods for measuring biophysical protein properties Dissecting the molecular mechanisms of viral protein evolution Defining the biophysical constraints on antibody affinity maturation Developing biophysical fitness models to predict protein evolution Application instructions Please include the following items in one PDF as part of your application: A cover letter including a summary of your research experience, your career goals, and your expertise in the relevant field(s).
Your curriculum vitae, including a list of publications with brief (2-3 sentences) descriptions of your contributions to the published work.
Names and contact information for at least 3 references.

Develop new experimental methods and implement them to answer fundamental questions in molecular evolution, virology, and immunology.
Implement computational and statistical methods to analyze large datasets.
Apply for postdoctoral fellowships, write papers, give internal and external seminars, and mentor graduate students.
