The Lead Designer sets, models and enforces the highest standards in the industry and has end-to-end responsibility for all aspects of event floral and design elements.
The incumbent plans, coordinates, and collaborates with their partners and vendors in Design, Production, and Operations to ensure all events and projects are set up for success.
Primary responsibility for the incumbent will fall in the following critical areas;
1) Manages designers around logistics for event florals and design elements in collaboration with Floral and Design Warehouse Manager.
2) Works with the design team to select, order, and manage event needs around design and floral elements.
Provides logistical expertise and production management.
3) Participates in day-of load-in and set up of floral and design elements working with designers at the event.
4) Anticipates needs and spots problems before they occur.
Makes adjustments and takes immediate corrective action.
5) Assists in creating and delivering organizational systems to streamline the design production process.
This individual provides inspired leadership and effective coaching and mentoring throughout the department while assisting with the establishment and achievement of performance objectives, supporting the Company's Strategic Plan.
Position Responsibilities:
Management and Training
Manage and schedule designers for studio and onsite work.
Manage Floral and Design Manager around prepping florals and containers.
Pre-Event
Participate in design workshop meeting with CD, CCO, and EDP to develop design plan for the event.
Procuring, selecting, and ordering design elements based on event needs/design.
Manage floral prep for events/floral packing list with Floral and Design Manager.
Forward event summary and other info to designers’ pre-event.
Oversees floral packing of truck with Design Warehouse Production Manager and Floral and Design Manager.
Planning
Research availability of materials seasonally.
Formats floral recipes of design concepts.
Floral market selection and development of market list for floral amounting.
Procurement of supplies list for elements.
Collaboration with design partners around creative efforts.
Event
Participates in overall lineup with EDP.
Pre-event meeting with designers for event plan.
Full installation of floral and design elements for the event.
Breakdown plan for floral and decor elements.
Post-Event
Participate in post-production meetings.
Overall post-event inventory management.
Financial
Organize floral and element vendor invoices.
Review final payroll for designers to turn into HR by payroll deadline including managing all punch change requests.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 20lbs frequently, as well as sit in meetings.
Must be able to read and write in the department’s dominant language (English).
Proficient communication in Spanish is a plus.
Must have the stamina to work 50+ hours a week as needed seasonally.
