About the Position In the Probation Department, Legal Processors work with a diverse customer base including the public, attorneys, law enforcement officials, and court personnel.
They answer a variety of questions regarding department services and operations.
They assist Probation Officers with various clerical duties such as typing, preparing, confirming, copying, distributing, and filing a variety of material including court documents.
Additional responsibilities include: A variety of opening duties for the front lobby including restocking information pamphlets, maintaining the seating area, and organizing interview rooms Providing customer service to visitors in-person, via email and over the phone Answering and directing calls on a multi-line phone system Delivering documents to the Court and other County departments Receiving and processing mail, including time-sensitive legal documents Processing client payments Preparing daily court calendars Working at the front desk as needed As the ideal candidate you will be a self-motivated individual who enjoys learning new information and processes and working in a collaborative, team environment.
You will also bring: Work experience in customer service roles with a focus on interacting with the public Proficiency in engaging with clients or visitors, even in challenging situations or immediate crises Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office skills to complete data entry tasks using Outlook, Word, and Excel Familiarity with handling cash transactions and billing procedures A flexible mindset in order to shift gears quickly and work in a fast-paced work setting Patience, positivity, empathy, and a sense of humor Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Any combination of education and work experience which would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed herein.
Normally, one year of clerical work experience in an office providing substantial customer service would provide this opportunity.
Special Skill Requirement: The ability to type at a corrected speed of 45 words per minute may be required for some assignments.

License: Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position.
