68/hourAbout the Position Homeless Outreach is a grant-funded program which focuses on supporting individuals experiencing disabling mental and physical conditions as a result of crime-related victimization.
The program works to resolve immediate case needs, engage individuals in vulnerability assessments, and link victims to ongoing comprehensive care as well as prosecution and restitution services.
The Homeless Outreach Coordinator’s duties include but are not limited to: Coordinating client intakes with community-based organizations who evaluate client needs and make referrals to other servicesPlanning and referring victims of crime to service providers (e.
g.
housing, shelter, counseling, cash benefits etc.
) Providing and coordinating emergency vouchers (hotel, food, gas, etc.
)Participating and scheduling community outreach and multidisciplinary team meetingsLeading biweekly program meetings to ensure target goals are being met by the teamLeading the collection of data on victims served and ensuring that partner agencies provide victims with follow-up support servicesProviding research, data analysis, and case management support Providing information about community trends, gaps in services, and issues related to victim servicesRepresenting the Victim Services Division at various community-wide meetings and effortsActing as a liaison with department and agencies such as Health and Human Services; and helping develop written material for distribution to all victim services agencies While the Homeless Outreach Coordinator can have some interaction with clients, the focus is on administrative work related to the grant and working with the CBO's and vendors who conduct the majority of the intake, evaluation, and referrals.
This position works Monday-Friday, 8-5pm.
At times, due to outreach events, this position may work outside of regular work hours.
The Homeless Outreach Coordinator regularly works out of the Family Justice Center but may at times be needed to go out in the field to complete client intakes.
Other work locations may include various shelter sites and potential homeless encampments.
Our ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, and be a natural leader.
They will also possess: Knowledge and experience working with vulnerable populations such as victims of crime and individuals of various socio- economic backgrounds.

EXTRA-HELP EMPLOYMENTExtra-help employees relieve or augment permanent staff.
Temporary, extra-help employees are not in the classified civil service and do not have property rights to permanently allocated positions.
In addition, they do not receive most employee benefits such as: long-term disability insurance coverage; accrual of vacation; participation in the County retirement program; or eligibility to take promotional examinations.
Temporary, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of one calendar year.
These employees must be off of work for three months before they can be re-employed on an extra help basis.
Extra-help employees who meet the eligibility requirements may qualify for a County contribution toward medical coverage.
The employment list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill future extra-help (temporary) positions as they occur during the active status of this list.
