Job Description
Our health care litigators regularly try cases before courts, arbitrators and juries, and handle the appellate proceedings as well.
Our health care practice is multidisciplinary, helping clients successfully navigate the legal and business intricacies of a wide range of legal and strategic matters.
The significance and complexity of the matters that we handle frequently place us at the forefront of making new health care law.
This position offers a unique opportunity to become an industry expert in a large and vibrant sector.
Because the law is constantly changing in the health care industry, the work we do is frequently transformative, regularly making new published law in the field.
Over the past decade, our team has been responsible for more published health care decisions in California than any other law firm.
The practice is both trial-oriented and intensely academic, as the laws and regulations can be novel and complex.
If you are interested in learning (or deepening your experience in) the health law field, trying cases and helping shape the associated appellate jurisprudence, this position offers all of that.
Our practice is unique in that we represent many of California’s largest payers (health plans and health insurers) and the largest providers (hospital systems, nursing homes and other providers of health care) in their most sophisticated and complex litigation.
The practice is fast-moving, cutting-edge and dynamic, with opportunities to develop close relationships with many of California’s most significant players in the health care industry.
Our cases are varied and include consumer class actions of every type; litigation against government agencies; government and other investigations; and fraud and abuse, qui tam, ERISA, high-exposure bad faith, and other class and individual actions.
While health care experience is not a prerequisite, your interest in specializing in this important and dynamic sector is.
Finally, we are looking for attorneys who work well with others.
The firm, and the health care practice specifically, values collaboration, sharing and teamwork.
We are a close-knit group.
It is important to find candidates who share our values of collegiality, and because we will invest significant resources in your future, we are looking for people who are interested in establishing a career here.
Requirements
Minimum of two years of solid litigation experience
Excellent research, writing and advocacy skills
Effective and efficient problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work independently and proactively and to develop creative solutions to meet client and team needs
California Bar membership in good standing
