Opening and closing these windows puts poisonous lead dust on the floor, where a child or pet will play in it and accidentally consume it.
You can buy a test kit where you wipe the floor with a ghost wipe and send it to a lab for testing.
There are lead testing agencies as well.
So many people don't realize this danger.
They think they are okay if the lead paint was painted over and not chipping.
They don't realize the friction involved with old windows.
