Title: Home Delivery Worker
Department: Nutrition and Senior Centers
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports To: HDM Program Coordinator
Summary: Responsible for packaging and delivering meals to homebound elderly and persons with disabilities, and performs other duties at senior centers/events.
Essential Functions:
1.
Receives meals from caterer; load congregate meals to vehicles for delivery to senior centers.
2.
Packs home-delivered meals and congregate meals; delivers meals to clients on foot or by car.
3.
Assists in agency and department events, such as meal packing, meal distribution and general cleaning.
4.
Maintains records of client’s addresses and meal receipts.
5.
Collects donation and maintains records of donations.
6.
Performs cleaning duties, such as thermal bags, thermal box, packing machine, vehicle and utensils.
7.
Observes conditions and needs of elderly and provides appropriate assistance and referrals.
8.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
1.
Minimum one year of experience in community and food service.
2.
Must have interest to work with elderly.
3.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
4.
Bilingual in English and Chinese.
5.
Must pass a strength test for physical fitness for the job: able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Must be willing and able to climb steps to the homes of home-delivered meal participants.
6.
Must obtain certification in food safety (ServSafe) within 3 months from the date of employment.
