Afternoon Music Teacher -- 2nd-4th grade (mission district)

Inner Fire Academy is a new microschool founded in 2023.
We are a single mixed age classroom of 2nd-4th graders, with no more than 8 students in the class.

com We are looking for a morning assistant teacher Monday and Wednesday afternoons 11:45am-3:15pm to lead a 45-minute music class and assist the head teacher with other classes.
You would be backfilling our current Music teacher May 1 - June 5 as she is out on maternity leave.
Compensation is $30/hour.
You don't have to be a certified music teacher, but you must be prepared to create and run a music class for 7-10 year olds.
Prior experience and enjoyment working with kids of this age is a must, as is the ability to play a musical instrument well (need not be classical, guitar/percussion/etc are all good).
Hopefully you are also passionate about school and education--you believe it can and should be a rewarding space for learning and growth.
Your ability and interest to help younger students with simple math (addition, subtraction, multiplication) and play outdoor games with the class at recess is a big plus.
If you can demonstrate these traits, we don't care what degree you have.
Desired Qualifications: - We do NOT require a degree or credential in teaching, but experience and passion for working with kids ages 7-11 is a must - You must be able to consistently commit to regular part time hours on a weekly basis (currently MW 11:45am-3:15pm, some flexibility to have it be two different afternoons) - Ability to help with basic math is a plus - Additional availability and interest for full-day substituting when needed is a plus If interested, please indicate in your response why you are interested and what makes you a great choice (resumes are helpful but not required).
