Description
Support Refinery Projects, Operations, Maintenance and Information Systems through the design, commissioning, implementation, maintenance and documentation of control systems (Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Information Systems (IS) interfaces, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Emergency Shutdown (ESD) and other control and monitoring systems).
Job Duties:
Provides leadership with regard to administering and supporting the Microsoft-based Process Control Network, including, without limitation:
The Security (firewall, AV protection, user accounts, etc.
)
The Network’s support (LAN, communications, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
)
The building and configuration of networks, servers, stations, domains, and security
Software & hardware upgrades/patches
System availability & reliability
System architecture & design
Application maintenance
PI (by OSIsoft Inc.
),
Alarm Configuration Manager (ACM),
PAS Integrity, and
Others
Data management and License management.
Ensures the integration of the control system, IT system and other third-party systems, and that they comply with applicable corporate standards and industry best practices.
Leads the effort in maintaining DCS that meets operational needs by:
Developing and executing long term plans to keep hardware and software up to date,
Interacting with vendors to resolve outstanding issues, and
Reviewing and ensuring that relevant changes are made, that are compliant with applicable standards and industry best practices.
Leads the effort in the management of systems documentation (procedures, backup, recovery, troubleshooting, architecture, etc.
), and emergency recovery plans and procedures.
Routinely monitors system performance.
Analyzes and takes appropriate actions, in regard to:
Logs - system and application,
Disk space,
Machine and network performance,
Security,
Percent utilization, and
Preventive maintenance.
Stays up-to-date with corporate standards related to DCS and cyber security, HSE and MOC practices, policies, and procedures.
Provides coaching and training to other control systems personnel when appropriate.
Interfaces with corporate SMEs and contributes to the discussion among network members on standard developments and other related topics.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of eight (8) years of process control/advanced process control experience.
Knowledge of the management of Honeywell and/or Cisco networks in a process control environment.
Knowledge of process control application software such as process historian, alarm management, or similar software.
Knowledge of coding and/or logic competencies.
Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.
e.
, Word and Excel).
