The UCSF Library is looking for a creative, tech-savvy, customer-service-oriented individual to join the Technology Innovations team.
The Technology Innovations Specialist supports the research, teaching and learning efforts of UCSF faculty, staff, and students by providing high quality support for multimedia content production and Makers Lab integration services to the academic community, in alignment to the Library’s strategic plan across the Parnassus Heights, Mission Bay, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland campuses.
The Technology Innovations Specialist supports recording studio and Makers Lab spaces within the Library to enhance the utilization of cutting-edge technologies in the design and creation of instructional content and objects.
This position works closely with colleagues across the library, as well as partners in IT Field Services, IT Education, and Educational Technology Services to ensure seamless and accessible access to equipment, software, and services designed and delivered with UCSF’s research and education missions top of mind.
Successful candidates will have foundational knowledge in the video production process and experience with modern recording studio equipment and configurations.
Key Responsibilities 20% Provide equipment loan services.
Specialist will fulfill in-person equipment pick up and returns for multimedia equipment, makerspace equipment, computing devices and conference room peripherals.
This includes assisting with the setup and maintenance of the online reservation system, providing training and support for patrons on proper use of equipment, development and enforcement of loan policies, and tracking user feedback.
Specialist will also organize, maintain, repair and clean loanable equipment.
20% Provide support for recording studio spaces and conference rooms.
Specialist will configure and maintain recording studio equipment including video switchers, audio mixers, video cameras, lights, local and cloud recording software.
The Specialist will provide a full portfolio of support services to users of the recording studio, including the creation of tutorials and in-person support during recording sessions.
Support will also be provided for Library staff conference rooms, in collaboration with campus AV teams.
20% Provide support services for academic program multimedia content development.
Specialist will provide guidance and support for faculty and student DIY multimedia content development, including video and audio production, editing and publishing within the video hosting platforms integrated with the campus LMS.
Support will also be provided onsite for multimedia recording and editing applications available on shared workstations in Library spaces, including Adobe CC, DaVinci Resolve, Camtasia, Audacity and iMovie.
Specialist will also collaborate with the Library’s Instructional Design team to provide seamless transition from technical to pedagogical project support for academic program users.
20% Provide support services for users of the Makers Lab.
Specialist will provide guidance and troubleshoot moderately complex issues with a variety of software and hardware related to 3D printers, 3D scanners, extended reality, and other Makers Lab services.
Specialist will provide in-person and remote support to users and small groups, including trainings, FAQs and online help documentation.
Also, provide internal technical support to other Makers Lab staff and assist them in resolving customer problems.
10% Assist with project plan development and end user documentation.
Gather and analyze data to prepare policy, process and procedural documentation.
Assist with implementation of changes in development, maintenance, system standards and in the creation of specifications.

edu) Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point.
An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience and training.

Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
Skills associated with analysis of processes and issues of moderate scope, information flow and architecture.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe CC video/audio or equivalent applications.
Strong technical writing skills, able to create quality support resources.
Foundational knowledge of makerspace technologies such as 3D printers, 3D scanners, and virtual reality equipment.
Experience supporting emerging technologies in an education setting.
Intermediate knowledge of related areas of IT.
