Art Assistant

Art Star SF is a San Francisco based art program, which provides working SF artists an opportunity to mentor, share knowledge and experience with SF artists of all ages.
Our program teaches basic drawing techniques.
We encourage children artists to express their imaginations while improving motor skills, patience, focus, and ability to stay on task.
Art Star SF is seeking energetic and enthusiastic candidates for the position of art assistant.
We are looking for candidates who have experience working with children, who have had the responsibility for motivating groups of children and guiding their behavior.
Art Star SF offers classes in public and private schools during the school day, as well as in park districts and preschools.
_*You must be available to assist during a Preschool Class that takes place every Wednesday from 10:15 – 11:15am.
Starting now with an end date of Wednesday, May 22nd.
You would assist the instructor with the class management of 12 preschool artists (ages 4-5 years).
*_ Job Duties: * Promote a safe and positive classroom environment.
* Actively supervise and ensure student safety at all times.
* Model positive and proactive attitudes, behaviors, and language.
* Speech, behavior, and attire must be appropriate, professional, and kid friendly.
* Maintain accurate attendance records and reporting procedures.
* Ensure that all school space, equipment use is left clean and orderly.
* Attendance and participation at training and staff meetings a must.
* Instruct students on the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment.
* Implement discipline techniques and classroom management.
* Interact professionally and appropriately with parents, teachers, and school staff.
* Comply with all school district policies and procedures.
* Perform related duties as assigned.
*Qualifications:* * Must pass criminal background check, TB (Tuberculosis) test clearance, and must be COVID-19 vaccinated.
* Must have valid California Identification.
* Must have mobile phone and access to email.
* Must be punctual and reliable.
* Must have experience working with children.
* Must possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills.
* Must have experience working with groups of children (such as para educators, teaching, running a daycare, camp counselors).
* Must be able to communicate openly in a professional manner with students, parents, community partners, and all school staff.
* Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
* Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
