Organization Information Founded in 1999, Asian Pacific American Community Center, also known as APACC, is a 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving the underprivileged communities.
APACC’s mission is to strengthen the development of Asian Pacific American families by providing linguistically and culturally appropriate programs and services to mostly low and moderate income families and immigrants with limited English proficiency.
These impactful and professionally supported programs are the critical foundation to ensure that the underprivileged communities receive support in education, resources, and referrals needed to adapt and become self-sufficient with equal empowerment opportunities for families to thrive, and for communities to become confident, healthy and strong.
*Position: *TemporaryBilingual Spanish-SpeakingProgram AssistantPart-time position for 20-35 hours/week.
Reports to the Program Managers.
*Salary: *$20-24/hour, dependent on experience and skills.
*Start Date:* Monday, February 5, 2024 *Responsibilities are, but not limited to: * _After School/Summer Program_ * Maintain safety of youth at all times * Provide coverage where supervision of youth is needed at all times * Provide homework assistance and tutoring for a range of youth grades K to 8 * Assist in setting up facility, lunch, and snacks for programming as needed * Supervise youth who are finished with homework in the afternoons and possibly engaging them in games * Assist Program Managers with keeping communications open with Spanish monolingual parents and youth * Assist students with Spanish-language homework * Work with Program Managers and other Academic Mentors to build any academic and fun activities curriculum (i.
e.
games, STEM/STEAM related projects, etc.
) * Lead any summer activities as needed * Provide support for other staff in their activities * Supervise/Chaperone any field trips * Conduct outreach in the community as needed * Communicate with managers any concerns, issues, and information about youth, parents, line staff/academic mentors, or interns/volunteers as necessary * Other duties as assigned.
_Social Service Connection_ * Assist clients in translation services, housing information, application assistance, and referrals in Spanish * Assist clients with public benefits (i.
e.
CalFresh, Low-income housing, Medi-Cal, etc.
) * Training available provided by City and County of San Francisco * Conduct outreach in the community as needed * Cooperate with community based organizations in conducting social services * Use Google Sheets to track clients and SF City Required information.
* Other duties are as assigned _ECO-Waste Program_ * Conduct outreach and education to Mercy Housing Malosi building in Sunnydale neighborhood * Work with the ECO-Waste team to recruit and educate 50 unduplicated residents on Zero Waste policies by 2025 * Administer a pre- and post-test survey to 50 participants of the program * Monitor participants' bins randomly once a month per resident and rate the number of commingled materials on the commingling rating scale * Inform participants on the quality of their bins and how to improve their commingling for next month * Maintain and update the online database for residents outreached, residents educated, survey results, and commingling results each month * Oversee the recycling program's paid volunteer who will assist the Program Assistant in outreach and bin checks * Troubleshoot with the Program Manager about any resident questions or problems that come up * Assist the Program Manager in writing quarterly reports about activities done during the quarter _Voter Education Program (Temporary until March 5)_ * Outreach and give information materials to the Spanish-speaking San Francisco residents who might qualify to register to vote * Outreach to San Francisco residents people interested in being a poll worker * Table at San Francisco college campuses (SF State and SF City College) to distribute voting information materials * Go door to door to outreaching within the Visitacion Valley neighborhood, as needed * Assist Program Manager in keeping track of the number of people that were outreached * Other duties as assigned *Qualifications* * * * * * Experience working with immigrant and/or low-income communities a plus.
* Good organizational, time management, customer service and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
* Data entry skills with the ability to create, maintain and enter information into databases as directed.
* * Basic knowledge of City, state, and/or federal social services programs a plus.
* Effective with diverse groups of people.
* Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.
*Hiring Requirements: *This position requires a Livescan background check and proof of TB test which are reimbursable.
