Division Description Felton Children, Youth, Family, and Transitional Age Youth division offers comprehensive, early care and education, family support, early intervention/ inclusion, and mental health services across San Francisco to over 400 families.
ECE Programs Felton Institute has been providing comprehensive early care and education services in San Francisco since 1971.
Felton now has ECE programs in SF’s Mission, Bayview, and Visitation Valley neighborhoods; and offers a school-readiness program for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers (2 weeks to 6 years old).
Felton’s ECE programs include 4 infant, 7 toddler, and 11 preschool classrooms, which serve approximately 400 children, full-day/ year-round.
These multicultural, educational classrooms provide a nurturing, developmentally challenging, and inclusive environment for very young children of low/moderate-income families.

Brief Job Description The Early Childhood Training Specialist will develop and deliver high quality training and technical assistance (TTA) that improves the onboarding and capacity of Felton’s educators and early childhood programs.
The Early Childhood Training Specialist will support to develop and deliver training and technical assistance that reflect the diversity of languages and cultures of the ECE workforce.
The ideal candidate will have both a background and experience in Child Development or Early Childhood Education with knowledge of the Title 5, Title 22 regulations ECE classroom processes and procedures.
The Early Childhood Training Specialist will develop and provide training to the early childhood programs, with a focus on supporting effective training in the implementation of Felton’s services and approach, ECE best practices, Title 5, Title 22 requirements.
The Early Childhood Training Specialists will have knowledge of strategies to support a system of high-quality ECE which includes teacher; child interactions, curriculum, universal teaching strategies and supports, social-emotional development supports, environments, documentation and other requirements.
Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education and the ability to support its use as well as cultural and linguistic responsiveness is required.
He/She will extend continuous support and guidance to newly onboarded as well as existing Felton ECE educators and specialists, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of Felton's policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have experience with providing culturally respectful engagement strategies to teachers and specialists working with children birth to five years old.
This position is fully remote with 20% travel required to provide technical assistance to assigned sites and to attend/facilitate trainings and meetings.
Key Responsibilities: Onboarding New Hires: Design and develop comprehensive onboarding training materials and resources in alignment with Felton’s best practices in early childhood education.
Conduct engaging onboarding sessions, workshops, and seminars for educators, specialist and program supervisors, utilizing adult learning approaches and learning styles, both in-person and online platforms.
Adapt delivery methods and content of curriculums to meet the specific needs of different audiences.
Spanish trainings as needed.
Assess the training needs of ECE educators in collaboration with the leadership team, tailoring programs to address specific skill gaps and areas of improvement.
Provide one-on-one/small group trainings to educators new to TITLE 5 programs, offering guidance and support for professional development.
Partner with ECE Directors to create and co-facilitate trainings targeting new Program Supervisors Partner with Program Supervisors to create and co-facilitate training targeting new educators.
Trainings for ECE Existing Workforce: Create and record PowerPoint training sessions for both onboarding and ongoing training, ensuring they align with Felton’s training and onboarding goals and objectives.
Partner with ECE Directors to create and co-facilitate trainings targeting Program Supervisors Partner with Program Supervisors to create and co-facilitate training targeting educators.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of ongoing training programs, making necessary adjustments for continuous improvement via pre- and post surveys.
Build relationships and partnerships with ECE leadership: program supervisors/directors to enhance existing training activities and create new, impactful sessions.
Adapt delivery methods and content of curriculums to meet the specific needs of different audiences.
Stay current with the latest trends, research, and best practices in early childhood education, incorporating this knowledge into relevant training programs.
Administrative Responsibilities: Update organization of ECE Box folders, materials and resources for easy access Maintain meticulous records of training sessions, participant feedback, and assessments to track progress and inform future training programs.
Ensure all training programs and materials comply with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.
Ensure all trainings are documented for compliance and training program sustainability.
Assist in compiling monthly data for various reports, demonstrating a basic knowledge of program content area policies and procedures.
Oversee and coordinate a comprehensive training program in alignment with Onboarding & Annual Professional Development Plans.
Take charge of creating and updating manuals, professional development materials, PowerPoints, and videos.
This includes but not limited to supporting designated priorities and special projects, including the development of T/TA materials (e.
g.
, procedures, handouts, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, videos, and webinars).
Collaborate with the Senior Director of ECE to develop and execute targeted and universal training events, including coordination of the Onboarding and Professional Development Plan topics and calendar.
Maintain close communication with ECE Directors to ensure effective planning and offering of targeted and universal trainings for both new and existing workforce members, including new Program Supervisors.
Develop workgroup planning meeting schedules with the ECE Directors to ensure timely development of T/TA materials, peer learning groups, community of practices, and webinars.
Ensure consistent and timely evaluation of targeted and universal training events, addressing any issues or questions that arise.
Maintain an organized inventory of trainings developed in Box in collaboration with the Senior Director of ECE.
Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field.
5+ years of demonstrated experience in early childhood services working with children and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
Knowledge of Title 5, Title 22 regulations, CDE/CDSS performance standards, and all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
Ability to maintain up to date knowledge of current child development practices and research based early childhood quality improvement methods and approaches.
Ability to develop training and TA content, including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
