Distinguishing Characteristics
Under the direction of the Recreation Specialist, Recreation Leaders will be responsible for the supervision of children (6 – 12 years of age) in the Benicia Parks & Community Services Department.
Job duties include planning and scheduling daily activities such as arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, low-key sports activities, and special events.
The Adventures Day Camp program runs Monday through Friday.
Program hours are from 7 a.
m.
– 6:30 p.
m.
in the summer with all staff training conducted every other Wednesday from 6:30 p.
m.
to 7:30 p.
m.
The Recreation Leader position is a mandated reporter position.

Unless otherwise eligible for CalPERS retirement system, employees in this category are enrolled in PARS, an alternate retirement system, and employees have a 6.
2% payroll deduction towards PARS.
The City does not participate in Social Security except for the required Medicare program, which is a 1.
45% payroll deduction.
