Supervising Accountant - County of Sonoma (santa rosa)

The County of Sonoma's Department of Health Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervising Accountant to join their team! The Supervising Accountant will provide oversight and management to the internal audit unit and will report to the Deputy Chief Finance Officer within the Administration Division.
Responsibilities include: * Supervising and leading a team of skilled accountants, providing guidance, training, and support * Overseeing and conducting internal audits to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of financial and operational processes * Identifying areas of improvement and implementing control procedures to mitigate risks * Preparing comprehensive audit reports and communicating findings to senior management * Collaborating with other departments to develop and implement strategies for improvement * Ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices * Facilitating and preparing for external audits, including providing necessary documentation and support The ideal candidate will possess the following: * Proven experience in internal audits and accounting * Strong leadership and team management skills * Thorough understanding of internal audit methodologies and best practices * Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills * Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities * Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams *Salary is negotiable within the established range and benefits described herein do not represent a contract and may be changed without notice.
