POSITION SUMMARY The Staff Accountant will be a hands-on member of the Finance team reporting directly to the Director of Accounting.
The role is primarily responsible for the timely Recording to Reporting (R2R) of the GAAP financial results on a monthly basis and at year end.
The role will assist in enforcing a strong internal control environment and compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
The individual must - possess strong analytical skills, enjoy working in a hybrid and start-up environment, be able to exercise initiative, be self-motivated, and demonstrate an aptitude and skill to proactively find solutions.
This role will leverage third-party services.
This position must also influence work processes and reporting across the organization which requires strong communication skills.
TARGETED OUTCOMES/12 MONTH SUCCESS BENCHMARK Assist with bringing the majority of the outsourced accounting function in house within 2 months of start date.
Assist with Improving the month end accounting close and reporting process; reduce month end close time from 10 business days to 4-5 business days within 2 months of start date.
Assist with new systems implementation initiatives by Q2 2024 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES General Ledger Maintenance: Perform monthly general accounting function including, general ledger entries and close procedures Ensure account reconciliations are prepared in a timely and accurate manner and that reconciling items are reported and resolved timely.
Financial Reporting: Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and reporting packages Accounts Receivable and Payable: Take ownership of the vendor management process from (P2P) Procure to Pay.
Including, new vendor setup, invoice management, and payments.
Take ownership of the customer account management process from contract close to collection.
Expense Management: Assist in tracking and categorizing expenses, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Tax/Compliance Filings: Assist and liaise with the external tax provider on income tax filings.
Perform other non-income related tax filings and form issuances.
External Audits: Provide support during the audit season Process Improvements: Assist with accounting policy and SOP documentations Implement best practices in accounting operations.
Assist with systems and process implementation initiatives.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Other Business Support: Work closely with other functional areas including Operations & Marketplace, Tax, HR, and Financial Planning & Analysis to provide financial support, solve issues, and ensure effective communication.
REPORTS TO Reports directly to the Director of Accounting REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Bachelor of Science in accounting required 2-5 years of accounting experience Experience with Quickbooks online and Netsuite ERP Experience with a large accounting firm and/or software development organization, a plus Demonstrated experience working effectively across an organization.
Ability to independently resolve problems.
Experience leveraging third party expertise.
Must be able to work with a diverse group of people and interact with internal and external stakeholders including customers and vendors.
Must have excellent time management skills, self-directed, and able to work in a dynamic start-up environment.
Must be able to work effectively in a remote working environment.
Able to handle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent oral, written, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.

The expected range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
Actual compensation may vary within the listed range based on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, experience, and specific geographic location.
