Position Overview
The Accounting Manager possesses a thorough understanding of accounting practices and principles and is responsible for many of the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department.
With exceptional attention to detail, time management skills, and project management skills, they are expected to process important data in an accurate and timely manner.
This position also manages complex accounting activities including, but not limited to, financial reporting and the preparation of the general ledger and year-end audit.
Specific Duties
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure in accordance with GAAP
Manage the Accounting Specialist and various day-to-day accounting operations, including payables, receivables, and tax preparation
Maintain the daily cashflow spreadsheet, resolve discrepancies, and prepare monthly cash report
Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Complete the monthly inter-company billing and entries
Process credit card refunds in payment gateway
Manage and oversee the month and year-end close process including subledger review, GL mapping, and posting
Serve as the primary point of contact with our third party compliance service provider, overseeing the precise and punctual handling of state tax filings, licenses, and reports for both our DTC and wholesale channels
Manage the timely submission of tax returns to Federal and State agencies, including the TTB, Board of Equalization, and Napa County Property Statements, ensuring compliance and accuracy
Take a proactive approach in preserving all TTB and ABC licenses and permits
Develop and implement strategic initiatives and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Collaborate with department heads to support overall company goals and objectives
Create ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
Collaborate with Controller to ensure a smooth and timely year-end audit
Coordinate and facilitate the process of documenting accounting policies and procedures
Monitor, follow, and enforce internal controls
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in accounting preferred or 5+ years of experience in accounting
Wine industry accounting experience is preferred but not required
Experience with financial reporting and general ledger
Experience with AMS, Commerce 7, Stripe, Ramp, and Tipalti is preferred
Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, Excel, and e-mail
Strong communication skills
Excellent organizational, prioritization and verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, problem solving, customer service, and analytical skills
Proven experience as an effective and engaged supervisor
Highly organized, while managing multiple projects and tasks associated with deadlines
Exceptional time management and attention to detail skills
Ability to work with highly confidential information with complete confidentiality and integrity
Ability to work in-person at our estate in Napa
Flexibility and willingness to embrace other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
Operate a desktop computer using keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision
Sit and/or stand for long periods of time
Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base annual salary range for this position is $90,000.

However, the actual pay rate will depend upon job-related factors such as overall qualifications, skills, experience, education, etc.
