*Title: *HR and Payroll Assistant *Reports To*: HR Director *Classification*: Non-exempt, Part Time (18 hrs week) *Status*: Regular Employee *Pay*: $30-32 HR/DOE *About Marin Country Day School:* MCDS is an independent, K-8, co-educational day school enrolling approximately 600 students from across the Bay area, primarily from San Francisco and Marin.

*Position Description:* The HR and Payroll Assistant works in conjunction with both the HR Director and Controller to assist with various HR administrative and payroll functions.
Principle Responsibilities ● Gather, coordinate and enter bi-weekly payroll records including; accrual and time off, after school programs, tax and garnishment, deductions, on and offboards, tutoring, substitutes and requests for pay ● Update employee pay, status changes in Payroll and HRIS system ● Assist with creating effective tracking and organizational processes for payroll processing.
● Assist with payroll processing as a backup when needed.
● Schedule, coordinate and track required training for new hires and re-training for current employees, file applicable training documents in employee files.
● Organize applications for open positions, create shared folders for Supervisors, track applicant status.
● Assist with pre-hire and new-hire onboarding process; track process, coordinate paperwork, obtain signatures and complete onboard packet, upload and create profile.
● Create employee personnel, payroll and benefit files in PRG, EASE and GOOGLE drive.
● Assist with tracking and organizing new agreements and stipends, update appropriate payroll files, file final documents in employee files.
● Track benefit enrollment, updates and changes; assist with updates in EASE and PRG ● Audit monthly carrier bills against enrollment status in EASE and PRG; note differences, work in conjunction with HR Director to assess any discrepancies and rectify with employee, broker and/or Controller.
● Partner with the HR Director to track and enter annual open enrollment changes.
● Assist with distribution, reporting, filing and producing of annual notices and Medicare Part D, SAR’s and 5500, 1094 & 1095C, CMS/Medicare, EEO-1, WC audit.
● As a member of the school community, attend and participate in school meetings during the year.
● Participates with other school personnel in collaborative efforts; additional projects or responsibilities as assigned.
● Understand and promote the school’s mission of curiosity, empathy, and action, and participate in creating a welcoming culture for all members of the MCDS community.
*Qualifications:* ● BA degree in business or similar; or equivalent combination of education and experience ● Knowledge of and experience with payroll and general HR practices ● Strong hands-on experience with excel, word, google suite and the ability to create various documents, share and merge between systems and track detailed information ● Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a busy environment ● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written ● Detail-oriented, flexible, with the initiative and ability to work independently.
