*Position Summary:*
The Staff Accountant is a mid-level position supporting the accounting and financial reporting operations of the organization.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role performs day-to-day, month-end, and year-end financial processes.
This includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, expense reports, revenue recognition and billing, general ledger reconciliation and knowledge in financial reporting, for government and private foundation grants and contracts, year-end financial and single audit.
Prefer candidates with FastFund experience.
*Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A* *Essential Duties/Responsibilities*: *Accounts Receivable* * Billing for grants and recording, payments for services and grant receipts and donations into FastFund accounting system.
* Prepares and assists in remote deposits for checks received.
* Assists with grants and program sponsors to resolve outstanding payments and/or billing issues.
* Prepares and organizes filing and storage for checks and invoices and related documents.
* Prepares and updates monthly accounts receivable reconciliation schedule.
* Prepares monthly Accounts Receivable Aging Report.
*Accounts Payable* * Records vendor and service provider invoices, credit card transactions, insurance premium billings and employee expense reports into FastFund.
* Generates weekly check runs, schedules check signing and mail payments.
* Works with vendors/service providers to resolve payment and/or billing issues.
* Reviews monthly employees’ expense reports and resolves reimbursement issues, preparing for payment through monthly payroll.
* Prepares and organizes filing and storage for vendor invoices and related documents.
* Prepares and updates monthly accounts payable reconciliation schedule.
*Revenue Recognition* * Generates monthly “Fee for Service” invoices, per program sponsor’s contract terms, conditions, and billing requirements.
* Assists in preparation of monthly funding requests for federal grants, based on revenue recognition.
* Enters billing/claims through sponsors’ online portals, as required.
* Prepares and keys invoices and revenue recognition journal entries into FastFund.
*Month-end Close and Financial Reporting* * Prepares semi-monthly payroll allocation and allocation journal entries for Fast Fund import.
* Prepares bank reconciliations in Fast Fund, and enters journal entries for all bank accounts * Prepares balance sheet analyses and schedules and prepares and enters adjusting journal entries into FastFund.
* Assists in preparation of ting financial statements and related reports, including Statements of Financial Position, Statements of Activities, variance analyses and ad-hoc reports, as required.
* Assists in preparation of monthly expenditures of federal grants for the Board of Directors and Policy Council.
* Supports Finance Manager in preparation of Board package every other month.
*Financial and Single Audit Support* * Assists in preparation of PBCs, schedules, and analyses during financial and single audit, as required.
*External and Internal Support* * Assists in responding to grant and program sponsors’ inquiries and requests for information and documentation, as required.
* Assists in responding to management and employees’ inquiries and requests for information and reports, as required * Assists HR in semi-monthly payroll preparation *Required Skills/Abilities*: *Knowledge and Computer Skills* * Experiential knowledge of GAAP standards is required.
Knowledge of FAR, CFR, and relevant OMB circulars is strongly preferred.
* Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn Fast Fund nonprofit accounting systems is required.
* Proficiency with MS Office suite of products.
Salesforce experience is a plus.
* Intermediate Excel skills (V-lookups, Pivot Tables).
* Experienced with ADP, Salesforce is Plus.

Non-profit accounting or government grant accounting experience is strongly preferred.
