An independent school seeks a new *Finance Manager/Business Officer* starting in July 2024.
The Head of School along with the Board of Trustees have built a strong school community, beautiful campus, all while tirelessly pursuing excellence.

The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), provisionally accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and actively interconnected with independent schools in the broader landscape of Northern California education.
The _*Finance Manager/Business Officer *_implements all the daily finance operations of the school and utilizes QuickBooks for tracking revenues, expenses and generating financial reports.
Specific job duties include, but are not limited to, the following: _*Finance & Accounting *_ * Processing of A/P including verifying accuracy of all bills/invoices, ensuring accurate and timely payments and coding to proper expense codes; * Monitors and reconciles credit card purchasing accounts with positing to the accounting system; * Prepares monthly financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders; * Monitors school expenses and prepares monthly bank reconciliations; * Ensures compliance with local, state and federal reporting requirements; * Supports all financial audits in conjunction with Audit Committee and provide recommendations for procedural improvements; * Makes adjustments to accounting system entries as itemized and approved by Board Treasurer, the auditor, or other designated/authorized persons; * Leads budget process with Head of School and Finance Committee; tracking of budget throughout the fiscal year * Supports Head of School in negotiations of external provider contracts that the school enters into including insurance, payroll, HR, financing, etc.
_*Tuition Management*_ * Monitors, collects, and posts all incoming revenues (tuition, school activities, fundraising revenues); * Oversees tuition collection, tracking and reporting of A/R including any collection issues; * Liaison with tuition management firm, banking entities, vendors, insurance agents, community businesses and all other business entities interacting with the school; * Primary contact person for Financial Aid; monitor and assist in allocations of annual financial aid awards as approved by Head of School; _*Personnel Support*_ * Prepares new Administrative & Teacher contracts in collaboration with Head of School each year; * Prepares and submits monthly and bi-monthly payroll for all employees (hourly and salaried); * Prepares and submits 1099s for all eligible independent contractors as needed.
* Conducts intake procedure for all new hires (FT, PT, and substitute teachers); * Maintains and secures personnel records including personnel contracts * Liaison between employees and HR/Payroll provider; Tracks and monitors workers comp claims; * Schedules and facilitates the benefits open enrollment for all eligible employees; *Position Requirements* * Bachelor’s degree required in related financial field; Master's degree (preferred) * A high level of integrity, warmth, confidence, a positive outlook, a strong work ethic and an engaging, positive, creative, and personable attitude with a hands-on approach * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written * Ability to interact effectively with all the constituencies of the school community: including the Head of School, administration, staff, faculty, Board of Trustees, alumni, parents, and friends * Experience in the nonprofit sector and/or independent schools is preferred * Ability to demonstrate our three core values and support our mission through collaboration, professionalism, and critical reflection * Proficiency in Quickbooks, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite *Additional & Physical Requirements* These are required to perform the key responsibilities of the job with or without accommodations: * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, on occasion as needed * Must be able to walk, stand, climb, hear, see, balance, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl on occasion as needed * Must be able to drive a reliable vehicle and have a clean motor vehicle record with an active driver’s license * Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time and have good mobility skills * Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: viewing a computer terminal, managing office technology, extensive reading, etc.
* Must pass state and federal background, fingerprinting, and reference checks.
