Read on to find out more about this opportunity: EXAMPLE OF DUTIES This is currently one (1) Accountant I/II position available in the Office of Finance within the Health and Human Services Department.
There is also one (1) Accountant I/II position available in the Department of Finance and one (1) Accountant I/II position in the Department of Public Works.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancies and any future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur while the list remains active.
Candidates will be considered for the accountant level(s) for which they meet minimum qualifications.
Position descriptions for each position are as follows: Accountant I/II - Office of Finance, Health and Human Services Department: Under the direction of the Assistant Chief Fiscal Officer, the Accountant I/II is responsible for preparing and completing complex fiscal reporting requirements for the Health and Human Service Department’s programs.
Duties include preparing, auditing, and monitoring all accounting and financial transactions, budget, revenue, expenditures, and fund balances.
The Accountant I/II contributes to the development, modification, and implementation of financial record keeping and reporting systems.
The Accountant I/II ensures financial reports and claims for payment required for State and Federal funding are prepared clearly, concisely, and accurately.
The Accountant I/II works with Auditors and other professionals to supply and validate information on accounting transactions, policies, and procedures.
The Accountant I/II reads, interprets, and explains Federal and State rules, regulations, and other legislative guidance to determine financial impacts.
Accountant I/II - Department of Finance & Department of Public Works: The Accountant I/II performs centralized professional level accounting work; prepares, examines, analyzes, maintains, reconciles and verifies complex accounting records and reports; prepares trial balances and journal entries; performs reconciliation of accounts to the general ledger, subsidiary ledger, cost and control ledgers and other records necessary to control fiscal operations.
They work to ensure that all financial reports are prepared clearly, concisely, and accurately.
The Accountant I/II makes decisions based upon their comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Government Financial Reporting Standards.
These positions work with auditors and other professionals to supply and validate information on accounting transactions, policies and procedures.
Hybrid Work Option: Some County departments consider hybrid (telework/onsite) work schedules with approval from a supervisor and after a probationary period for new employees.
